From Client Screenshot to Finished Report: An Easier Lab Workflow for Functional Nutritionists

By Jenny Shepherd, M.S., and Josh Shepherd  |  October 2026

It is Sunday evening. A client has sent three portal screenshots, a PDF from last spring and a photo of a printout. Before you can do the part that needs your training, you have to sort through every file, work out which results go together, and retype it all by hand. It does not have to work that way. Here is the same job, step by step, the old way and the easier way.

1. Getting the results in

The old wayOpen each file, squint at the photo, and type every value into a spreadsheet by hand, one marker at a time.
With My Practice LabsUpload everything at once: PDFs, portal screenshots and photos, up to 15 files together. The values come in organized and ready for you to review.

Clear PDFs come through best. Photos of paper reports work too; they just tend to need a closer look during review.

2. Checking the numbers

The old wayLook up conversions for results in other units, and hope you did not mistype a decimal along the way.
With My Practice LabsResults in international units are converted for you and marked so you can see what changed. You review and edit every value before anything is saved, and markers you do not usually track are kept rather than lost.

3. Comparing against your ranges

The old wayKeep your functional ranges in a separate document and check each result against it by eye.
With My Practice LabsEvery result sits against functional and conventional ranges side by side. Set your own ranges once, with separate sets for male and female clients, and they apply to every client.

4. Seeing the trend

The old wayFlip between last year's file and this year's to work out what moved.
With My Practice LabsVisits line up in draw-date order, and trend charts show each marker across visits at a glance.

5. Making the report

The old wayCopy everything into a document template and reformat it for every client.
With My Practice LabsDownload a clean, print-ready report with your logo and your notes, then share it through the client portal you already use.

What stays with you

The interpretation. My Practice Labs organizes and presents the results; it never diagnoses, scores or recommends. Your notes, in your words, are what turn the numbers into guidance for your client. The tool simply gives you back the time you used to spend retyping.

Client data is encrypted, every account uses two-factor sign-in, and a Business Associate Agreement is included with every plan.
